When Leonie began painting, her essential focus was on outback communities and their struggle with economic hardship and the effect of droughts over many years. Her work was met with great enthusiasm and her paintings were soon to be found in collections throughout Australia and around the world. Many awards and prizes were to follow.
Since moving to the Blue Mountains and working for the first time with other artists, Leonie began experimenting with different techniques and genres which led to even wider public support and professional acclaim. The distinctive change in style and subject matter is quite marked and continues to change, her fans alert and waiting for the next surprise!!
She has an enviable collection of awards accumulated over the years, the latest being in 2016. Recently awarded prizes have been given by Anthony Bond of AGNSW, Mathew Lynn, Luke Sciberras, Dr David Middlebrook and Warwick Fuller and her work may be found in national and international private and corporate collections
Leonie was a founding member of the Gallery Blackheath in 2001 and was delighted to be invited to return in 2010.
