The Barchibalds + Open Day 2024

The inaugural portrait exhibition, The Bartchibalds, at BARTS was a resounding success with over 60 entries, highlighting the talents of numerous individuals in both 2D and 3D mediums. Visitors thoroughly enjoyed the event, which showcased an impressive range of artistic skills.

Jo Breneger won the Members Prize by people’s choice with her piece "Tom," while the Under 18 prize went to Audrey O’Halloran for her charming portrait of her dogs, Maggie and Ethel. Interactive workshops added to the fun, with "Anyone can Draw" led by Julie Paterson and the "Decorate a Tile Project" proving to be popular with attendees. Studio Group convenors were pleased to report several enquiries from visitors interested in joining their ranks.

Demonstrations by tutors Michael Herron and Monika Scarrabelotti were also a hit, as they exhibited their drawing and sculpting talents, respectively. The event was made even more delightful with delicious soup and baked treats, which were a big hit. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed these tasty delights.

A special thanks to all the wonderful volunteers whose hard work made the open day such a success. Overall, it was a fantastic day enjoyed by all, marking a promising start for future community activities at BArtS.
