Building sculptures in clay (6 week night class)

CANCELLED

Join artist and teacher Monika Scarrabelotti to learn the principals of sculpting in clay.

In this workshop you will be guided over six weeks on how to construct, model, hollow out and reassemble your work, finishing with a ceramic sculpture ready to be fired in the kiln!

Class starts: Monday 14th October

Class ends: Monday 18th November

Class structure: 6 weeks, every Monday night 6pm-9pm

Level: Suitable for all levels

Tickets: Members $325, Non-members $355

We use the Humanitix ticketing platform to help us manage our workshops and classes. Humanitix charge a booking fee which we split with you 50/50. Humanitix is a registered charity and 100% of their profits go to social impact projects with a particular focus on closing the education gap.

Material fees: $15 for 5kgs of paper clay (available for sale at the studio), firing at an extra cost calculated by weight

Wear: comfortable work clothes and enclosed shoes

Please bring: Reference images and clay modelling tools (also available for use and for sale at the studio).

Participants will need to bring in some reference images of the sculpture (or concept) they would like to create, and have an open mind about changes to composition to make the work possible as a purely ceramic sculpture. Participants are encouraged to work directly from a pre-existing sculpture or favourite artwork for the most optimal learning experience. Subject matter is open to the choice of the individual and may include: figurative or animal forms, portraiture, abstract or stylized sculptures. All skill levels welcome!
